How we check leads

Every lead is checked before it reaches your marketing automation.

Each lead goes through four checks in LeadScale Engine™, finishing with a review by one of our team. We don't charge for any lead that fails. Where a record can be fixed, such as when someone has changed job title, we correct it.

Four checks on every lead

Data hygiene. Fake names, profanity, malformed and incomplete records removed.

Contact verification. Email, phone and domain checked against several sources.

Spec and duplication. Job title, function, target accounts, suppression and company caps.

Human verification. On business contacts, a person checks the role and company are real and current.

The criteria within the checks come from your programme's specification, including the audience you need, the fields required and any account or suppression requirements.

Every lead receives these four quality checks, including leads from channels a client runs using a licensed Engine. The human review is the final quality check. Technical operations can be arranged around the work the programme needs; for example, duplicate checks can precede paid verification lookups.

For the distinction between format validation and verification, and how the technical flow is set up, see lead validation.

Correct what can be fixed

A failed check does not always mean discarding the record. Where the information can be corrected, we fix it before delivery. A changed job title is one example. In one recent audit, we corrected more than half of the records that passed.

The remaining failures are rejected with a reason, and you are not charged for any lead that fails our checks.

~25% of publisher records fail our checks before a client is billed for them. Average across LeadScale programmes.

Check the contact at the start

Content syndication turns unknown buyers into known, opted-in contacts. Each one then shapes your lead scoring, nurture sequences and the audiences you reach on LinkedIn and display.

That makes the contact data worth checking at the start. For a business programme, someone with a current job title, at the right company, who appears only once, is a contact your marketing automation can act on with confidence.

Delivered accuracy

Across our programmes, delivered records average 99.8% accuracy to spec.

Check leads you generate yourself

The same checks can run on leads you generate yourself, such as webinar registrants and form fills from your website.

LeadScale Engine's SmartForms code, added to your web forms, stops fake and nonsense entries before they are submitted.

What a sample audit finds

A customer data platform sent us 557 leads from one publisher, targeting Director level and above at 1,279 named accounts in the US and Canada. We checked each lead against the original specification.

  • 23% rejected

, more than half for being outside the target countries.

  • 56% of accepted leads needed a correction.

  • 17% of target accounts reached

, which per-account caps would spread further.

Customer data platform, US and Canada. This was an audit of a supplied lead sample.

The sample shows why an audit examines both the records and the account coverage. A correction can make a contact usable, while account caps address how contacts are distributed across the target list.

See what is in your lead sample

Send us leads from a recent programme. We'll show you how many we would have rejected and why, how many we would have corrected, and how much of your target account list they cover.

For a managed programme, content syndication covers publisher selection, sourcing and delivery alongside these checks.
