Website visitor identification with IP Reveal
LeadScale sets up and runs IP Reveal to identify organisations visiting your website before anybody fills in a form. It can add relevant personas at those organisations and deliver the result as an export or into your own systems.
Website visitor identification can make part of your anonymous site traffic useful to sales and marketing without claiming to identify the individual person behind the visit. LeadScale runs the service for you rather than leaving your team to operate the capability itself.
How IP Reveal works
The service starts by setting up the required tag on the client's website.
When a visit can be resolved, IP Reveal identifies the organisation associated with it. Where the service includes persona information, LeadScale can also add relevant personas at that organisation.
That distinction matters. The visitor is identified at company level. A persona at that company is not a claim that the named person was the individual browsing the site.
The resulting information can then be delivered as a raw export or piped into the client's own systems. Companies found by IP Reveal can also be reached on LinkedIn (see LinkedIn).
From website visit to usable output
- Set up IP Reveal on the site. LeadScale implements the required tag for the service.
- Identify the organisation. Where a visit can be resolved, the output identifies the company rather than the individual visitor. Bots, internet service providers, hosting companies and your existing customers are removed. The companies left that fit your ICP are reviewed with our team and added to your target account list.
- Add relevant company personas where included. Persona information can be added for people at the identified organisation without claiming which person made the visit. For each matched company we identify the buying group and check each person, and matched accounts are included in content syndication, LinkedIn and display.
- Deliver the result. The output can be supplied as an export or sent into the client's own platform.
The underlying identification capability belongs to the LeadScale Engine™. LeadScale Services handles the work of setting it up and running it for the client.
What you receive
The useful output is an identified organisation, with the visits attributed to that company, together with relevant personas where they are part of the service. For a visitor's company to produce known, opted-in contacts through content syndication usually takes 3-4 weeks (LeadScale programme data).
The information can be delivered in a raw export or into the systems your team already works from. Companies found by IP Reveal can also be reached with display campaigns (see Programmatic display).
IP Reveal matches more than 70% of visits to a named company, checking the visitor's IP address against three independent data sources.
Company-level identification
IP Reveal identifies organisations. It does not identify the individual human being sitting behind a browser.
That boundary should remain clear when the output is used by sales or marketing. A persona associated with an identified company is a person at that organisation, not evidence that the person visited the website.
Frequently asked questions
Does IP Reveal identify individual website visitors?
No. The identification described here is at organisation level. Persona information can be added for people at an identified organisation, but that does not establish which individual made the visit.
What do we receive?
The output can include the identified organisation and relevant personas at that organisation. It can be delivered as a raw export or into your own systems.
How is it delivered?
LeadScale can supply the output as an export or pipe it into the client's platform. The exact destination is agreed as part of the setup.
Do we have to operate the software ourselves?
LeadScale sells IP Reveal as a managed service: LeadScale sets it up and runs it for the client.
What does it cost?
Packaging and commercial terms are discussed on the discovery call.
